A Shiny New Machine

My friend Dave showed me this video for the song “We’re From Barcelona” by the band I’m From Barcelona two days ago and the song hasn’t left my head since. It might be the happiest and catchiest song I’ve ever heard and I can’t get enough of it. They have that same kind of cult-feel that the Polyphonic Spree has (boasting 29 members!), but minus all the creepy Christian undertones. I get a pretty strong Sufjan Stevens feel from this song as well. They use a variety of instruments and use them well much like Sufjan.

Basically, what it boils down to is that I want to be in this band. It looks like so much fun. The lyrics in the song promise, “you’ll be one of us when the night comes.” That’s kind of an eerie reminder of the whole cult-vibe, but what can I say - I’m down for it. Also, the best part is this band is from a town in Sweden that’s almost 1500 miles from Barcelona. Weird, eh?
